You want to make sure your website is optimized for the search engines and writing good content is a major part of that, along with getting backlinks. But what if you want traffic now? You could go out and buy hits to your site but do not do that. Paid traffic is a complete waste of money unless you are paying per click through Google Adwords. The paid traffic you see advertised is completely worthless. For one thing it is probably generated through a robot. If it is a real human visitor from say a domain that is expired it is still useless because it is not targeted. So what do you do? Keep waiting for Google to favour your site or what?
I mentioned Google Adwords. That is a viable option to get immediate traffic to your website. You could also try Facebook ads Both of those methods will provide you will targeted traffic. However unless you know what you are doing you can lose your shirt through Google Adwords. You better really know what you are doing or just hire a professional to manage your Adwords Campaigns. Facebook can be a little less expensive, and even more targeted, but people on Facebook are not searching. Your ads are just an interruption to their social experience, besides it still costs money.
If you are asking yourself “How can I get free traffic to my site right away?” I have the answer for you. It isn’t for everyone or every kind of website but it is worth checking out if you haven’t looked into it yet.
Traffic Exchanges are websites that you join and in exchange for people viewing your website, you view other peoples websites. Like I said this is not for everyone. If you are a busy marketer such as myself you simply do not have time to sit in front of your computer viewing ads for hours upon end. Also the people who are viewing your site are only doing it so that they can earn credits to have their site displayed; but this has its upside. The people who are viewing your site want traffic, and they want it bad enough to spend hours trying to get it. If you present them with an offer that is targeted to helping people get more traffic to websites then you may do quite well.
I consider traffic exchanges a short term newbie strategy. Eventually you are going to get sick and tired of viewing websites all day. You will also find that it is not an effective use of your time. Once you have some traffic momentum from the search engines you would be smart to spend your time improving it or on marketing. Lets face it as internet marketers are busy people. My most valuable resource is my time and so is yours. Internet marketing is very time consuming, especially when you first start out. The payoff is well worth it, but you need to balance work with play, friends, and family.
Traffic exchanges are very effective in the internet marketing niche and traffic generation niche. If that is what your promoting then go for it. If your trying to sell soccer balls its not going to work out very well for you. Also it is very important that you do not send traffic through a traffic exchange to any site with adsense on it as this is a violation of Googles terms of service.
What you want to do is direct traffic to your squeeze page where you give away a high value information product. You can find products with resale rights that are perfect for this. Graphics packages have a really good opt-in conversion rate. You could sign up for a resale rights membership site or look for Graphic package WSO in the Warriors Forum. I used traffic exchanges when I first started out over five years ago. I was able to rapidly build my list to 300 people, before I out grew using them. I personally like startXchange, and Traffic Tornado. Traffic Tornado is not actually a traffic exchange but it can help you build a downline of people who use traffic exchanges. This is cool because you earn credits when they surf the traffic exchange. It is almost like selling Amway. The more people you sign up the more traffic you get. Eventually you will keep on getting traffic while doing nothing at all.
I honestly have not used a traffic exchange in at least 5 years, but because I was writing this article I decided to check out startXchange. I wasn’t sure if I still had my log in information because it was so long ago and I had a different computer back then. I did back up my old hard drive so I did have my old login id’s. So I logged in and I actually had a surplus of traffic exchange credits that I had no idea about. Pretty cool huh?
